Quick Facts About SafeSport

There were several questions about SafeSport at our fall meetings. In regard to our upcoming competition, it is listed in the announcement:
- If a skater is an adult competitor, they DO NOT have to take SafeSport or a background check, unless they are part of a team which would require them to be in a locker room with other skaters.

- Parents and guardians are allowed in locker rooms to assist their child if under the age of 11 and of same gender.

- Coaches are not allowed in locker rooms unless the skater is their own child and under the age of 11, and is of the same gender and the skater requires assistance.

- Locker rooms will be designated male or female.

- If a locker room is co-ed, there can be no changing in it and the door must be kept open.

- The use of any recording or photographic equipment inside a locker room/changing area is strictly prohibited.

We will need Locker Room Adult Assistants for SkateFest as well as Ice Show.
Locker Room Assistants must be SafeSport trained and have their background check, both through USFS.

- Background checks cost $20 and must be completed every year. The club will reimburse you for background checks if the follow requirements are met. Please contact us if you are interested.

- If you have previously taken SafeSport, the renewal is a shortened version.

- If you have a USFS membership, log in to USFS (DO NOT USE YOUR CHILD'S LOG IN) and
from the member's only page, click on the second box "US Figure Skating SafeSport" to begin.

- If you don't have a login (have a USFS membership), go to the USFS website at: www.usfsa.org and:

1. Go to Members Only
2. Click “Non-Member? Create Account” link.
3. Enter profile information and set a password on following page.
4. Click the U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport icon.
5. All compliance items are in the blue box at the top of the page. Follow steps “a” and “b” from above to complete the SafeSport training and NCSI background check.

Please see below.

SafeSport Compliance is a USFS requirement for SkateFest and Ice Show. We hope you will help us in meeting our requirements.
